THE DEVELOPMENT OF GRASPING IN INFANCY
Participant Age Range: 5-6 months
Additional Participant Requirements: Infant should be full term and have no current health issues.
Description: How do children learn to remember, and what does that look like in the developing brain?
Type of Study: Hybrid online and in-person at Temple University
Participant Involvement: 19 sessions: The sessions will take place across the span of 6-14 months. 18 session are done online, and will take 5-10 minutes. In online sessions, parents will upload short videos of their infants picking up a pencil. We will use specifically designed software to track finger movements for the video of reaching and grasping. 1 session is done in person, and will take 1.5-2 hours. In this session, infants will repeat the reach to grasp task, recorded with a traditional and 3D camera. Then, researchers will record EEG during a finger stimulation task and administer a standardized motor assessment.
Payment: $170 for completing all sessions
